what we've done
ROTH partners with UN agencies, international organizations, NGOs, funders, governments, financial institutions, and corporates to deliver impactful communication strategies. We create culturally sensitive content for humanitarian and development goals, support NGOs in advocacy and fundraising, and work with funders on campaigns and capacity-building initiatives.

UN & International Organizations

We partner with UN agencies and international development organizations to create impactful, culturally sensitive communications that support humanitarian goals and foster global cooperation.
ROTH is proud to have worked for six UN agencies, including four Regional Offices, (most of which on multiple contracts), plus the Regional Offices of IUCN, Save the Children and FHI360, and the global headquarters of IFRC, Transparency International and WRI (among others).

NGOs

Our work with NGOs is focused on branding, campaign strategy and storytelling that build awareness, mobilize supporters, and drive action.
We support advocacy, fundraising, and capacity-building efforts…
tailored to the unique needs of non-profit organizations.
From CSE work for Save the Children to ECD work for DG Murray Trust (four contracts) to branding and strategy for Global Schools Forum and WACI Health, we work closely with clients to understand their needs within their specific contexts and constraints.

Funders

In 2022, ROTH assisted the USAID, UNICEF and Zenex Foundation-funded Early Grade Research Series report back conference for the Government of South Africa: Department of Basic Education: communications materials concept, copywriting and design, website, podcasts, live streaming, logistics for 100 people over two days, videography, social media, hosting and media relations.
Please visit the conference website (all design and build by ROTH).
In the same year, we were honoured to be chosen to help Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa research, collect and share their 25-year journey of work and people – and design and create a website to showcase this work.
Our facilitators have helped numerous funders, including the Goethe Foundation and the DG Murray Trust, build capacity for their grantees – from Brand Storytelling to Teamwork to Collaboration.

Governments

ROTH has assisted local, provincial (state) and national government departments and ministries with research (MEL), training and programme communications.
In 2023, we helped the World Health Organisation – African Regional Office develop training materials on Surge Communications for several Ministries of Health.
In 2020, we provided crisis communications support to the Government of South Africa: Small Enterprises Development Agency during the COVID-19 pandemic.
And from 2015 to 2017, we developed campaign strategy, stakeholder engagement and production of over thirty 2D explainer videos in five languages for the Government of South Africa: National Treasury on municipal finance and access to information. Please see https://vulekamali.gov.za/
ROTH has also assisted six departments of the Provincial Government of the Western Cape on several research initiatives, including MEL in primary education, stakeholder engagement in climate change and story collecting in Entrepreneurship.

Financial Institutions

ROTH collaborates with banks and financial institutions to communicate their commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives.
Our storytelling approach helps these institutions highlight their contributions to sustainable development in a way that resonates with global audiences.
For example, communications strategy work for HSBC on their Climate Solutions Partnership with the World Resources Institute, spanning Renewable Energy transition in Asia and explaining Nature-based Solutions to the financial industry, embedded storytelling and extensive stakeholder engagement.

Corporates

Corporate clients rely on Roth to communicate their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and sustainability initiatives.
Our team develops strategies and content that strengthen brand reputation and demonstrate corporate accountability and community engagement.
ROTH strategists bring a deep understanding of partner relations, and the nexus between private, public and non-profit organisations – having worked with all three.
Work for WWF’s Climate Savers programme involved building partner relations with Fortune 500 clients, WWF Country Offices and the international programme. Corporate partners included: Sony, Coca-Cola, Tetra Pak and Volvo.
